The Adams' Apple

We adopted a 6 week old Boxer mix from our local animal shelter.  She is adorable.  I know, I know we are crazy for getting a puppy a few months before having an infant.  I would probably agree, but we already love her so much.  Derek thinks it was a good way to start preparing Zane for the changes that are soon to come with the arrival of Addyson.

We also had another appointment with our normal doctor and everything is the same... Which is good that nothing changed.  Addyson weighs in at 1 lb and 14 oz.  She is getting big.

Enjoy the pictures of Miss Apple...

Addyson's Update

We had our appointment with the specialist today.  I went into appointment feeling like everything was going to be fine and we would be told that nothing was wrong with her kidney and our other doctor must have been seeing things.  Well, it did not turn out that way, but at least we walked away with a better understanding.

Addyson's right kidney is completely normal and healthy, but her left kidney does have cysts as we were told.  Her left kidney is about 3 cm and the largest cyst is about 1 cm.  They could have formed due to a blockage, or the kidney could have formed initially with the cysts.  We were able to see both kidneys side by side and there is definitely a noticeable difference between her right and left one.  That was a little hard to see, to be honest.

Dr. Reiter (the specialist) looked at everything, and thankfully she seems to be growing as expected.  Miss Addyson weighs in a 1 lb 5 oz.  He also confirmed, as did the other 2 u/s we had in December, that we are having a little girl.  The only area that he wasn't able to get the best look/measurements for was her heart due to her position.  Although, he was able to verify that she has 4 chambers and her rate etc looked fine.

We will continue to see Dr. Reiter (in addition to my normal doctor) every 4 weeks, so he can closely monitor her kidney and ensure the right one continues to look healthy and cyst-free.

Derek and I feel very blessed that she has one healthy kidney.  Prayer is the best and only thing we can do for Addyson at this point, and we know the Lord will take good care of her.  I will be sure to keep everyone updated on the situation.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support, and please continue to pray for our little girl.

Pictures...

Here are some pictures from Christmas, Zoo, Monster Jam, and new belly pictures.  As you will be able to see, Miss Addyson is growing :)  Please ignore the Christmas tree in the background of the belly pics, we will it down before she is born, I promise...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone!!! 2008 is a year that we will never forget... our engagement, planning a wedding, Derek's transition to Continental, Derek's call from SWA, Derek's furlough from CAL, first months of marriage, changes with Zane, pregnancy, etc. It's been a whirlwind in the Adams household to say the least. Of course, we wouldn't have changed a thing. God works in ways that we do not always understand at the time. The Lord has truly blessed us in so many different ways through situations we never thought possible to see any sort of bright side from. His timing is always perfect.

We had a wonderful Christmas, and Zane enjoyed every minute of it :) Of course, I think our Dads (both Zane's Dad and my Dad) are enjoying Zane's Wii just as much (if not more) as Zane is. Miss Addyson doesn't know it yet, but she also had a wonderful Christmas. Her Grammy and Pa-Paw showered her with presents on Christmas.

We also enjoyed the Zoo and Monster Jam last weekend. Surprisingly, I probably got the biggest kick out of Monster Jam. I was one of those fans’ that was loud and jumping up and down through out the races. I actually jumped too quickly out of my chair, and we think I pulled a muscle in my stomach, LOL! Good Times!

Not trying to turn the mood upside down, but we did get some news that wasn't the most uplifting part of our holidays. Miss Addyson appears to have small cysts on one of her kidneys. Supposedly this condition is hereditary. The impact of the cysts really won't be known until she makes her appearance. We spoke to our pediatrician who couldn't give us much insight until she is born. My doctor is also making an appointment for us to see a specialist that will hopefully be able to help us better understand everything. We have another u/s scheduled on January 26th to have a better look at her spine and heart, since the last u/s she was not in the right position and had no want to move for the technician. Please keep her in your prayers, and I'll update everyone as we get more information.
